"Not 5 star, but could be!"

Allan from Paisley     *****

Reviewed August 2013

My wife and I stayed here from 12 to 25 August 2013. Reception were very quick to book us in, having arrived in the early hours of the morning. The downside was that someone from reception woke us early as the previous guests had apparently left something behind. They should maybe have checked with the cleaners first, as we did not find anything in the apartment which should not have been there. The apartment itself is equipped exactly as described and has everything you need for the duration of your holiday ( although a mop would be useful). The sofa bed, whilst not uncomfortable, is very noisy whenever you turn and can be a struggle to get out of due to the frame. We did not convert this to a sofa at any stage of our holiday and would prefer to see a conventional be in its place. You spend most of the holiday outdoors, so a sofa is not really required. It was nice to have a coffee percolator, as I dislike instant coffee and this allowed me to have a freshly brewed coffee each morning. The balcony furniture is uncomfortable, there is no lumbar support from the chairs. The only complaint on the accommodation was the flooding of the bathroom every time you showered, as the screen has been incorrectly fitted and water escapes. The additional complaint is with the standard of the cleaning. Whilst this had obviously been undertaken prior to arrival, it was of a low standard. The glasses, cutlery and crockery had to be washed prior to use, due to food and drink residue. Whilst this may be down to the previous occupants, the cleaners should ensure that they are clean. There was\is also a plastic drink container under the bed and dust where this has not been pulled out for cleaning. The cupboards also had to be cleaned due to substances being spilled and not cleaned. The owner will obviously have to take this up with the management. We were due to have a mid-stay clean, but the cleaners did not arrive. due to the afore-mentioned standards we cleaned it ourselves on a daily basis. We also did not receive fresh towels at any time during our stay. We had to wash the towels ourselves to freshen them, this was not an issue for us, as we generally wash items to re-use during our holiday, but feel that as this is supposed to be 5 star accommodation that this should be addressed. The sun loungers around the pool are uncomfortable, as no cushions are provided. The complex is not 5 star in our opinion, due to a number of issues such as the lack of cushions on the loungers. The pool is 5 star standard and the gardens are lovely. The complex is kept clean around the gardens etc, but falls short in areas which I would expect from a 5 star establishment. I would rate this as a 3.5\4 star. but it could easily be improved upon to attain the 5 stars.

"Great apt and the addition of the tv was a welcome bonus."

Great apt, close to the lifts and view from the window was most relaxing. Enjoyed watching a few people playing tennis from the balcony which was furnished with a table and 2 chairs. We had our breakfast and lunch on the balcony most days. Apt had kitchen equipped for 3 people, tv didn't have too many english spoken channels but enough for the short time spent inside.

The bed was already turned down when we arrived from a late flight - heaven! It has a memory foam mattress which made it very comfortable and had no trouble sleeping. Very easy to convert it back to a comfy sofa. After long days walking and touring it was great to fall into it. Only problems we had was when we arrived and found there was no toilet tissue and the air conditioning remote was dead... We asked at reception but they said it was our responsibility (we would have been happy to purchase some from them). Fortunately I had packed paper tissues but no batteries. We therefore had no alternative but to wait until the next day to purchase batteries and toilet tissue from a local shop. Without the air conditioning and the room being very hot it made for a rather uncomfortable first night.

Absolutely great place to have a rest. Wonderful pools, room looks like on a pictures. Everything that needed was provided. Beach close to complex not big but at least not crowded. For 20 Euro/day you can get all inclusive. Restaurants in town offer great food and drinks.

This is a nice apartment to stay for two people. If necessary, may place a child in a chair-beds. The room is not exposed to direct sunlight, which favorably affects the day time rest in the room. View from the window on the tennis courts and a green lawn with trees. In addition to the refrigerator and electric hob has coffee maker and a kettle. In the room there is a possibility to connect to the wired Internet. Coming back from the beach is convenient to use elevators, which are located in the most convenient areas of the hotel. In the evening you can relax on one of the three adult pools. If you come with your child, as we do, you can use them with 4 children's pools and a children's club. I want to note the wonderful kitchen which is prepared at the nearby restaurants on the main street.

"Great Place, excellent apartment and pool, great value"

I stayed her last year for a one week holiday. There were two of us staying, and the apartment was clean and had all the essentials you need for a self catering option as well as a great size for 2. The apartment was ideal for what we needed with probably the most comfortable sun loungers i have ever sat on! Pool area is great, the onsite restaurant is good serving great food and drinks, however there are some excellent local restaurants which do huge pizzas so do look at both options.

Overall we had a lovely stay and we also indulged in a couple of treatments at the spa which was also really good. I would recommend for a relaxing stay somewhere classy but also away from the madness of bigger resorts. The apartment we stayed in would be ideal for couples. The personal touches put in by the apartment owners really made a difference; also the welcome pack is a much appreciated extra which I would suggest you go for when you stay.

“All in all a nice way to relax for a weeks break.”

The Emerald Resort is a lovely place to stay. The facilities cater for everyone, young and old. There were always plenty of sun beds available and with a large pool area, a variety of spots to choose from. The weather was beautiful and the beach a short walk away and bars & resturants all within afew minutes walk. The language barrier was a little difficult at times but you can get by. Ravda isnt a very busy place but a short bus journey away is Nessebar and the old town is lovely, further on from there is Sunny Beach and if you like a real buzzy atmosphere then this is for you but prices here are more expensive, having said that its still cheap. An average meal for 2 in Ravda with a bottle of wine & other drinks cost us at the most £25. Fantastic value for money in the right resturant. The only down side if there is one is that the appartment although advertised as self catering, didnt really cater for this- with no kettle, bread knife, toaster or can opener, it didnt provide anywhere near enough to even make the basics as i expected so i was a little dissapointed not to have a cup of tea in the morning. All in all a nice way to relax for a weeks break.

Owner reply:
Thank you for your comments and we have taken them all on board!! We have added more cutlery; plates etc. as well as another electric kettle and toaster. Hopefully this will make for better facilities in the future alongside the many restaurants and bars around locally. Thanks Mike Hodgkinson

“The short drive to Borgas airport make the resort very convenient, we would recommend and definitely go again next year.”

We stayed for a week at the Emerald Resort and were very impressed with the accommodation and the services the resort has to offer. The room was functional and clean, with a kitchenette available for you to make your own snacks plus the shops were only a short walk from the resort which was very convenient. The resort itself offered excellent sunbathing with a lot of sun loungers available and bars and restaurants for lunch and dinner. The spa is very luxurious and offers a wide range of treatments which we enjoyed immensely. The staff were very helpful, and the long hallways and airy lounges ensure that the resort has a relaxed and quiet feel. The short drive to Borgas airport make the resort very convenient, we would recommend and definitely go again next year.
